From New York to Boston ...
I grew up on Long Island, NY and moved to Boston, MA to attend Emerson College, a four-year, private institution that focuses on communication and the arts in a liberal arts context, as an aspiring journalist.

From Boston to Battle Creek, Michigan ...

After completing two journalism internships while in school  - one at The Boston Globe newspaper and the other at National Public Radio (NPR)'s Living on Earth program - and earning my Bachelor of Science in Print & Multimedia Journalism (cum laude) from Emerson College, I landed an education reporter position at the Battle Creek Enquirer newspaper in Battle Creek, MI upon graduation, covering the area K-12 school districts and nearby colleges/universities. In this position, I became passionate about education's important role in the community (K-12 and higher education).

From Battle Creek, Michigan to St. George, Utah ...
After spending nearly a couple of years working in Cereal City USA, enjoying the fabulous Michigan summers at the lake and making it through the tough winters, I discovered beautiful Southern Utah and transferred to another Gannett newspaper in St. George, Utah (The Spectrum & Daily News) where I worked as a city reporter for about 1.5 years. In my job at The Spectrum, I had the opportunity to get to know the community well, report on interesting people, places and events, learn my way around the picturesque landscape and appreciate the desert.

Through some self-discovery and soul-searching, I decided to take a leap, switch my career path and embark into the world of higher education. I landed a job as an academic advisor in the Udvar-Hazy School of Business at Dixie State University in September 2008 and thoroughly enjoy working with DSU students, staff and faculty.

I also began graduate school in 2008 while working at Dixie State and completed my Master's in Family and Human Development through Utah State University in August 2010. My study of human development has helped me tremendously  in my profession as an academic advisor.

In July 2013, I became an Assistant Director of Academic Advisement at DSU.
